As the demand for qualified professionals in the technology industry grows, the need for gender diversity becomes even more urgent. Scholarships like Elevate seek to address this imbalance by supporting women aspiring to careers in high-demand, high-impact technology fields.
About the Women in Technology Scholarship
Technology is rapidly transforming the world, shaping our behavior, changing our beliefs, and redesigning our interactions. Its rise has created a wealth of personal and professional opportunities and the ability to leave a positive mark on the universe.
Women must be at the forefront of our technology-driven world.
Globally, women are significantly underrepresented in the technology sector. While many factors contribute to gender inequality in the technology sector, it is indisputable that having more women in the sector will drive innovation and generate better social and business outcomes.
Throughout my career in technology, I have benefited from extraordinary female leaders who have increased my empathy, compassion, and effectiveness as a leader.
The Elevate Women in Technology Fellowship exists to move the technology industry in the right direction, empowering the next generation of extraordinary female leaders.

Application Process
1. Student Profile on Bold.org
Creating a Bold.org account is the first step. Your student profile includes your academic background, interests, goals, and achievements. A strong and comprehensive profile helps donors assess your eligibility.
2. Written Essay
The essay is often the most important part of the application. You’ll need to write about:
- Why you choose a career in technology
- The challenges you’ve faced as a woman in the industry
- How you plan to use your tech skills to solve real-world problems
Example of a typical essay topic:
“What inspired you to pursue a career in technology, and how will you use your skills to empower others?”
Word Count: Generally 400-600 words
3. Optional Materials
Letters of recommendation are not required, but they can strengthen your application.
Sometimes, you can link portfolios (especially design or programming) in your Bold.org profile.
Tips for a Winning Application
1. Be personal, not generic
Avoid general clichés like “I love technology because it changes the world.” Instead, share specific stories about your experiences, whether it was creating a game in high school, joining Girls Who Code, or fixing your family’s Wi-Fi at age 12.
2. Demonstrate leadership
Donors want to support future leaders. Mention internships, volunteering, mentoring, coding clubs, or STEM advocacy roles.
3. Show a long-term vision
Explain how your career goals connect with your values. For example, are you interested in using data science to improve equity in healthcare? Do you want to create tools that support female entrepreneurs?
